Frontier Lodge is a modern four story home with 8 bedrooms and over 5,000 square feet . The lodge boasts a commercial kitchen, and large dining room. The spacious living room is well suited for small meetings, personalized presentations, or even seminars if desired. Experience beautiful sunsets while sitting on our front deck, which has a 180 degree panoramic view of Sitka Sound. Enjoy the comradery of other fisherman and exchange tales of the day as you relax away the evening. And the food ... Our in house chef takes care of all your dining needs. For breakfast, you may wish to fill up on pancakes, fresh eggs or hash browns. If you're a light eater, perhaps a muffin or cup of coffee will suit you. Lunches are provided to all anglers on the boat. Sandwiches filled with deli sliced meats and cheeses, fruit, chips, cookies, and a variety of beverages are the normal on-board fare. After a long day of fishing, return to the lodge, get showered, and come into the dining room for homemade soup, a salad bar, and dinner favorites such as prime rib, grilled chicken, steaks, and some of the freshest seafood you'll ever encounter.
Designed & built in the Pacific Northwest, our 27' Seasport boats are perfectly suited to the fishing and weather conditions in Sitka. In fact, our vessels are some of the safest in Sitka, meeting or exceeding all USCG regulations. The Seasport's design includes a heavy, deep-V hull, wide-open decks, a warm dry cabin which seats four comfortably, a huge fish hold, and a private head. Frontier boats are also fast, reaching most fishing areas in less than an hour so you spend more of your day fishing. Each of our boats is equipped with CB & VHF radios, GPS plotters, commercial quality color video depth sounders and radar. All of these allow our fleet to share up to date information on fishing conditions to make your day more productive.
To ensure you will have the most pleasurable angling experience, we provide tackle of the highest quality. We supply all your tackle, including six-foot stand up style G-Loomis rods coupled with Accurate PLATINUM 6 2-speed reels for Halibut. This combination gives you the leverage you need to bring up those legendary barn door halibut that Alaska is famous for! Salmon, on the other hand, can be a real thrill on lighter tackle. For this, we provide G-Loomis graphite rods teamed with Accurate BOSS 270 & 870 reels. This set-up allows you the sensitivity to feel the bite and a smooth drag to tame the surging runs of a big Chinook. With skill and patience, this combination will allow the angler to subdue the largest of salmon.
Each boat begins the day with 100 lbs of crushed ice to keep your catch cool throughout the day. Fish are bled and cleaned on the boat. In the afternoon when the boats return, our fish processors collect the days bounty at the docks and bring it to our on-site commercial fish processing facility. You may watch as it is filleted, trimmed, rinsed and vacuum sealed in 1 lb portions. (Halibut and rockfish are also skinned.) Every bag is clearly marked as to it's contents. To ensure quality, your catch is flash frozen to sub-zero temperatures in our large walk-in blast freezer and boxed per airline regulations for your trip home.
No one likes unpleasant surprises. Unlike some outfitters who hit you up with additional charges for necessary services throughout the trip, Frontier Charters takes care of everything. On the day of your arrival, we will pick you up at the airport, issue fishing licenses & tags, provide dinner and settle you into your room for the night. We'll get you on the water early in the morning and fish you hard all day - for as many days as you stay with us! In the evening while you shower up, eat dinner, and relax, we take care of the day's catch in our own commercial on-site fish processing facility. At the completion of your trip, we deliver you, your fish and your baggage to the airport for your return flight. From beginning to end, our crew provides courteous and efficient service.
